What I Wanted to Do Today?
What I Wanted to Do Today?

That is a very good question I have for a Blog Title. I wanted to test out my Scanner to see if I could convert my handwritten Water Wars scriptwriting project to text. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to do that today. There are several reasons why I didn’t do this. One is what my brother and I had to do today. Another reason is that I was doing some research on it still.

I knew that my brother and I had a few things that we needed to get done today, but I didn’t think it was going to take most of the day to do them. Unfortunately, it did. From very early this morning until almost dusk we had one thing after another we needed to do. I didn’t think I was going to be able to do any writing today. It wasn’t much, but I did get some done today.

Well, that isn’t exactly true. I still didn’t do any writing today technically, but it was writing-related, though. What little time I had to work on my research for my writing was kind of helpful. Think I’m ready to check it out. I’m still not sure how I’m going to do that. There are a couple of ways I can check it out. Just not sure which one is the best way.

One way is for me to start Scanning what I have written so far on my Water Wars scriptwriting project. I still may do that, but what if something goes wrong? Instead of Scanning them the Scanner could jam them. Maybe even damage them. I don’t want that to happen, but it could. So, maybe it would be best if I did it the second way: with some old handwriting.

After all, this is only a test. I have already rewritten this project enough times, I could test out my Scanner and handwriting conversion with that. If something does go wrong, it won’t be a total loss. I’m not talking about just a jam or something worse. I am also talking about the conversion process. What if I can’t do my transcribing my handwriting this way?

From the research that I have done, it sure does look like I’m going to be able to do it this way. It also looks like the Scanner is working correctly. I have tested it before on a couple of blog entries, and it worked great with them. So, I could still do it with this project. After all, I’m going to be needing to do it sooner or later anyway one way or another.

The big question now is whether I’m going to be able to test it over the next couple of days aka the rest of my days off from work. After all, today is the last day of July. That hopefully means I will be able to start writing some short stories again. One contest, the WDC Short Story Contest, I may be able to start in a day or two. I’m not sure about the other one.

It can go either way with that one. If I do ever get a prompt for that one. I haven’t gotten one in the last two months. So, there is a very good chance I won’t get one for August either. Even if I do get a prompt, it probably won’t be for several days. It may even be this weekend before I see it. If I see it at all. There’s still a very good chance that will happen too.
