My Second Short Story This Month
My Second Short
Story This Month

I haven’t had a lot of time to write my second Short Story for this month, but I have had a few hours to do it. A few more would have been nice because I only got the first two sections/parts of it done. Why didn’t I get more of this Short Story written? It wasn’t all because of the lack of time to do it.

It was also because I didn’t know how to get it started. I knew what I wanted to write, but I didn’t know how to write it. After all, I like to start my short stories off with a bang, a shock, or a teaser of what is to come. Sort of like what I like to do with my scriptwriting. This is a little bit different, though.

In the Short Story or Novel writing business that is known as a hook because it’s supposed to hook the reader into reading more. that’s true with scriptwriting too. At least it is for me, but it’s more important when it comes to short stories and novels. Especially, short stories because there is a word count limit on them most of the time.

With novels, there is usually a word count limit too, but it’s several hundred thousand words instead of a few hundred to a couple of thousand that it is for short stories. It’s hard for me to write a Short Story because of those limitations because I can’t write in enough detail for my stories to be understood. I can write some details, but it’s usually not enough.

That’s sort of what happened with my second Short Story for this month. I wanted to start it off with a shocker of a hook, but I wasn’t sure how to do it. It took me a little bit of time and thinking before I could do that. Time, I could have used to write another part/section for this Short Story.

Another section/part doesn’t read like it’s a big deal. Sometimes it’s not for me either. Other times it does. This is one of those times it does. After all, I have eight more parts/sections to write in Short Story, and I only have five more days to write them. seven more sections/parts would have been better.

Eight parts/sections should be a problem to write in five days, and after today it shouldn’t be a problem, but it often is with me. For one reason or another, I don’t have the time to dedicate to my writing. As a result, I sometimes have trouble getting what I’m writing done on time aka by the end of this month for this Short Story. It has happened before.

I don’t want it to happen again. I’m sure it will, but I don’t want it to happen this month. don’t think it will. I doubt I will get it finished in the next couple of days, but I hope I can. That’s only four sections/parts per day. It’s very unlikely I will get four parts/sections over the next two days aka my next two days off of work, but it can be done.
