Editor's Picks

I had the unique pleasure of delving into Newbie Portfolios in search of wonderful and unique items. What I thought might be an easy task was made immediately more complex by the caliber of the work I found. After careful consideration, I decided to share these items with you. They represent a variety of genres and styles. I hope you enjoy them!

This is truly an epic piece. The imagery is startling, beautiful, and at times desolate. Thank you, bianca_b, for suggesting this one!

This is a unique and rather frightening piece which hints at psychological horrors...or are those horrors real?

This piece is absolutely heartbreaking. I'm not a person who cries easily, but I was wiping away a few tears after reading this one.

A well-written, fast-paced, and scary tale! This includes excellent descriptions as well. As you read you visualize every bit of the setting and action.

The Trickster is one of my favorite archetypes from mythology so I had to read this piece. I was so glad I did. The pace is fast, the descriptions are wonderful, and it left me smiling.
A walk with the trickster  (ASR)
A early morning walk in the woods with coyotes.

This is an unusual and bittersweet story. A bit more somber than the title suggests, this is well worth the read!

When I was a child (and I was a morbid one!), it was gruesome little rhymes like this that encouraged me to read. Very funny and ghastly all at once. This author was suggested by kat2 - Great suggestion!
 Bad Little Kay  (E)
This is a rhyme about a little girl who didn't want any rules.

Ramblin Rose suggested this tale and I'm so glad she did! It's very unique and well written.
