To Be The Only One In Your Sight: A Love Poem

It made me upset,
but I wouldn't let it show.
I didn't want you to see me fret,
and worry and try to let go.

It broke my heart,
caused my tears to fall,
and hit my pillow seconds apart,
I didn't want you to see me bawl.

It drove me mad,
insane with love for you,
I said, "It's just a fad,
these feelings can't be true."

It filled my mind,
with thoughts of her and you,
I whispered words soft and kind,
I thought of ways to make sure you knew.

It slowly killed me,
painfully made me sway,
the love I had for you soon revived me,
sat there and made life stay.

Although you don't feel the same,
and instead of me it's her you picture,
in my mind I still call your name,
and whisper endearments, strong and sure.

I watch you walk and smile,
I watch you talk and then,
I attempt to harden my heart with denial,
but love in the end, I know, will win.

"Why do I care about you so deeply?"
I sit and ask myself when I see you and her,
my heart ignores this question and instantly,
shows visions of you and I together.

"Forget him!" my mind screams,
"No, fight for him." my heart sighs,
"Be with him...now." whisper my dreams,
"I love him." the truth flies.

Say goodnight, say good-bye,
smile and say things to me,
say, "You'll never have to cry."
Tell me, "Only with you do I feel free."

Whisper things from your heart,
speak what fills your mind,
tell me things to start,
a love for me I long to find.

When you smile and look at me,
then suddenly I know,
why my heart feels so free,
and my eyes begin to glow.

I love you more than words can say,
more than the uncountable stars in the sky,
I love you more with each passing day,
with each hidden sigh.

I want to be with you always,
I long to remain in love with you forever,
to pass millions of days,
with love burning like a fever.

I want to be your bride,
to be your one and only,
to be your special pride,
filling you with loving joy.

I want you to whisper to me,
what I've been whispering to you,
in your mind, I want to be the one you see,
the one you belong to.

When a love song is heard,
I want you to think of me and you,
when your heart is suddenly stirred,
I want you to be thinking of us two.

Through highs and lows,
laughter and tears,
good-byes and hellos,
months to years.

I want us to be together,
united as one heart,
I want us to be forever,
never ever to be apart.

I love you more than you could ever know,
can you hear the truth in these words?
I've chosen poetry to show,
a love so strong it hurts.

Look at the sky tonight,
glance at the yellow moon,
stare at the stars burning bright,
know morning is coming soon.

Who are you dreaming of tonight?
Who has your attention?
Who makes you feel all right,
when her name you mention?

Oh, how I long to be the one,
the one who stirs your love,
the person to whom you run,
to be lifted high above.

The one whose name leaves your lips,
when you're alone with God,
the one who through your dreams rips,
and through your daydreams will trod.

Oh, to be the one you love, my sweet,
the one who you hold dear.
What a lovely treat,
to be the one you pull near.

To see your smile each morning,
to hear your voice each night,
it would send my heart soaring,
to be the only one in your sight.
