Letter from the editor

Hello Everyone! I hope this November day finds each of you doing well!

In my past two newsletters, I’ve been touching on Writing.Com as a Community. I did not realize what I was getting into when I created my account at Writing.Com (then Stories.Com)! I thought I had found a nice website that I could spend a little time reading in my down time at work. I did, but also found a place that I could put my own works for all to read. This is something I had been wanting to do. I had gotten my own domain name and began to write a novel on my site, but getting exposure was difficult. Getting feedback was next to impossible.

After placing a few poetry works and one story, I began to get feedback. Some of it was encouraging, others critiquing, but all valuable, because it meant someone was reading! I have grown as an author immensely since joining Writing.Com.

Here are some helpful articles I’ve found in the community to aid in that growth:

Besides growing as an author, by reading, reviewing and getting involved with activities on the site, such as some of the many In and Outs and message boards, I began to become familiar with some of the people here. One of the first people that I found a common bond with was Zoo - Salted and Roasted , who read something of mine and realized we were from the same area. I became more open to others and have gained many more friendships here on the site.

Attending the 2003 Writing.Com Convention also helped me seal friendships. I am a shy person by nature, but still enjoyed meeting the people behind the user names. It made me realize even more that Writing.Com is a community posing as a website. *Wink*

If you haven’t done all to get involved in this wonderful community, why don’t you try some of the In and Outs, Campfire Creative, Scrolling IM board, Contests and general reviewing. You’ll meet some wonderfully creative people and become introduced to a friendly community! Don't forget to put some of your own writings here and set that Bio Block.
