Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church
I've been catching up on my e-mails. It seems we have new guys for Spectrum (GLBTF) and one of them is from Bama as well. Also, they've sent out a bunch of websites. There are several that deal with the "Westboro Baptist Church" and Fred Phelps. He was recently in Jackson, MS and I really hate that I missed the chance to go out there and be with the others who went to protest him. For those of you who don't know him, he's one of the people behind the website <http://godhatesfags.com> and this group was the group who protested Matthew Shepherd's funeral. Here's a link with some information: http://faultyminds.com/postp152.html In addition, there's another site from Uni of Southern Miss.'s GSA. <http://www.usm.edu/gsa/photoswbcprotest.html>

Also, in addition to this, many supporters of MSU, they've decided to no longer support the Uni because well, there's a GSA type group on campus. There was a preacher who called, saying he'd no longer donate any money because "if we allow this, what will happen next, there will be a group who wants to be with (sexually) animals!" and since this, MSU's been having quite a bit of trouble just keeping things up. Why did this all happen? Because at the bottom of the school's clause, they just added "sexual orientation" without having a huge fuss over it. They decided it was time for that to happen n just did it without putting it to a vote.

Some of the protest signs from the USM pictures say things like "Death Penalty for FAGS" and such things. Oddly enough, at this protest... after Westboro people left, it seems that a rainbow appeared...go figure. =)

It aggravates me in a way. So much to be done here. N Sarah laughs at me for being so concerned with all this... but she doesn't see the same things I do, she never will. It's a funny thing the differences in culture between where she lives n here. Oh well.

It also aggravates me that one of the things I feel so strongly about, I can't participate out in the open. *sighs* One day, just not now.
