POLLUTION


[Describes how man has disturbed ecological balance and polluted earth]



When God made the earth and said:
“O man, go, thou, rule the world;
Be the master of the seas,
Land, air and fish, beast and bird”,

Little did He then know of
His vilest capacity
To poison the earth and cause
Death of the humanity.

He wanted man to behave
In responsible manner,
Not to destroy what He gave,
Or, disturb mother nature.

But man, greedy and foolish,
Exploited the resources,
Leading to unleashing of
Nature’s destructive forces.

He wasted too much water,
Though it’s non-renewable.
He even polluted it,
Making it unpotable.

He burnt too much of fuel
In spite of scientists’ warning
Excess carbon dioxide
Caused green-house effect, warming

Sulfur and nitrous oxides,
He added too much to air,
Making it too polluted;
Breathing fresh air became rare!

Hydroflurocarbons,too,
He produced which went up high
And made a big ozone hole
For UV rays in the sky.

Mono-seed cultivation,
And use of chemical tools,
Caused eco-imbalance, loss
Of nature’s genetic pools.

Man can survive if he still,
Honestly, does implement
The global strategy of
Sustainable development.
