OUR GARDENER
OUR GARDENER

[The kindness and sternness of the gardener]

He feeds us and shelters us,
He looks after all our need.
He is a godsend to us,
He is true our friend indeed.

But he is a ruthless friend
When it concerns our upkeep.
When he comes with his scissors,
He causes our flesh to creep.

He cuts branches and the leaves,
He plucks the freshest flower.
He can plant, he can uproot.
He has got all the power.

Gardener, our true master,
We hold you so much in awe.
We all so depend on you,
For us what you say is law.

* Written in abcb 7-7-7-7 format

* It was written with a mundane idea: what thoughts might the plants have about the gardener. However, as I read it afterwards, I was surprised how well it fits in a spiritual context, where we all humans are akin to plants sown by Him!
