As I dream of you in night,
I wake up with a start,
When I dream you have broken
My tiny, tender heart.

Such dreams are now so frequent
That all my hopes are dimmed.
I wonder if they portend
What is for me destined

When in nights I dream of you,
My days are ever bright.
But you are so cruel that
You make me cry each night.

Come, my love, let us get rid
Of this dreaming and crying.
Enough of this dating now.
When the knot are you tying?
