National Novel Writing Month
I have taken the challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. November is national novel writing month and the website http://www.nanowrimo.org/ has a contest in which you sign up and promise to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. This means that I need to write at least 1,667 words a day.

I heard of this contest last year and considered doing it then, but didn't. This year I am attempting to do things I've always wanted to do but haven't done. So I decided to take the challenge. I have decided what to write, it is going to be a science fiction novel. My inner critic is telling me it was a stupid thing to do, but my inner critic is not reliable. Anyway I have taken the challenge and am now attempting to write background to the novel.

Some background I already have. I started a novel sometime ago and never finished it. Most of what I have right now is background. I need to write a character description of the main character.
