A Short Reprieve

I'm finding it hard to remember it's Saturday, because my normal routine has been disrupted today. But mostly in a good way, so I won't be grumping much, for once.

Been to see my dad in his new place of residence. It's a much nicer hospital and in pleasant surroundings. The decor is modern, the furnishings much more comfortable and the nursing care more specialised. He's complaining because he had to have a cooked meal at lunch time and he much prefers cheese and pickle sammiches. GAWD, these Yanks. But he'll get a choice this evening so hopefully he can have them then.

My sister and brother-in-law have come over for the weekend to give me a break. They'll be staying with mother dear and visiting my dad this evening and tomorrow. We're taking them out for a meal in a bit, so that will make a pleasant change. Won't do much for the diet however.

I've actually had two hours to write this afternoon, which has felt really strange. I've started my homework for the class (a travelogue article) and an erotic Halloween story for a competition on the site. I'm not saying it's been easy or they're any good, but at least it's a start and I hope to be inspired enough to finish both. It's been a long time since I sat and wrote with no disturbances and I realise how much I've missed it. How wonderful it would be to have nothing else to do but write each day. But I must stop now as my fwinkers are throbbing and it's time to watch my favourite programme of the week. It's been a refreshingly different sort of Saturday.
