TODAY'S DON QUIXOTE
TODAY'S DON QUIXOTE

[Isn't it Quixotic to point one's pen at the superpower?]

I’m today’s Don Quixote,
Convinced that I must speak out
And tell the world what I think
Of the global moral scene.

Morality does demand
That all strive to rid the world
Of the scourges of mankind--
Vast hunger and ignorance.

Of the two which one is worse?
I will say that hunger is.
A hungry man has no use
For alphabet or sermon.

But, rid the world of hunger!
While the super-strong and rich
Drop bombs on mud huts and fields,
Taking away life and bread?

Blaming the WMD,
Which, of course, did not exist,
An unholy alliance,
Did “conquer” entire nations.

Lawless aggression is named
“Global war on terrorism”!
The “conquered” President is
Then put on a sham trial!

What a trial, though, it is,
That is unfair and biased?
The so called world leaders are,
Out to destroy the UN.

Yes, I’m a Don Quixote,
Rattling my sabre against
Those who send the man to moon
And kill men here on the earth.

But as Don Quixote did say:
“God, who provides for all will
Not desert us”. I am sure--
‘The meek shall inherit earth’.
