WAITING FOR DEATH
WAITING FOR DEATH
[Tracing the days that are gone.]

Gone are the days, long ago,
When in the morning sun,
A small child and his pup did,
After butterflies, run.

Gone are the days when in school,
While sitting in the class,
The young boy wondered why girls
Glanced at the looking glass.

Gone are the college days when
The young man rued his fate,
That so far he had not had
Any successful date.

Gone are the days when, in job,
He was forever teased.
Though he worked hard as he could,
The boss was never pleased.

Gone are now even those days
When, after he retired,
He spent his time leisurely
And did not feel too tired.

Now the days are so long that
They never seem to end.
For his broken spirit now,
Death would be a godsend.
