MOTHER, COME BACK
MOTHER, COME BACK

Where are you, my mother, why
Have you forsaken me?
I don’t know your name or face.
What an ignominy!

I have seen other children,
Caressed by their mothers.
Why don’t, I too, have one who,
On me, kisses, showers?

All children avoid me and
Cast on me nasty looks.
They don’t play with me, nor they
Lend me their story books.

I don’t have a mother, they
Tell me in mocking tones.
I don’t think they’re right because
Mothers are in all homes.

Is it because I made you
Angry since I was bad,
That you left me and, also,
The one who was my dad?

Mother, come back to me and
Never leave me alone.
Or, one day, like you, I too,
Will from this world be gone.
