*Balloon2*           SUMMER: 17 Rahmat (10 July)          *Balloon2*

*Snow1* *Snow2* *Snow3* Think cool *Cool*!

Weather where I am: 79º and moist.
Weather in Tulsa, Oklahoma: 99º.
Weather in Genoa, Italia: 81º and still celebrating.

I always say I'd rather be in Tulsa. The rose garden there is a magical meditative place. However, with 99º today? Maybe not.

On a rainy day:

Red patched wings flying around my head; fledgelings resting in the young cottonwoods; cattails; reeds; ripples in he puddles; light rain; death of a dove.

Red waterlily; yellow waterlily; bumblebee on a purple spike of arrowhead; canna lily; green spath of leaf, purple heart shaped leaf; pink roses; lotus fountain; sounds of water falling; stone and gravel walk; sedum.

Last of the blue forget-me-nots; arrowhead; pink lotus; yellow daylily; sedge; pale pink waterlily; water cupped in the lotus leaves.

Well last night I had white cheddar Cheezit with King Oscar sardines in olive oil chased down by a Dr. Pepper. Don't you wish you would've been here to share it?

That was after walking to the Bahá'í Holy Day (Sunday, no buses) and watching the World Cup match. The game was fairly entertaining. The jets of confetti at the ceremony quite beautiful. Afterall, it is the "Beautiful Game". Zidane's headbutt wasn't so pretty however ...

The Holy Day was the 'Martyrdom of The Báb'. The communities where I used to live were quite musical even when off-key. This community is not, unfortunately. I kept wanting to sing a melody I learned years ago "Queen of Carmel" that is appropriate for the day, but chickened out (I also cannot remember lyrics for the life of me).

A short video presentation of the Holy Day (it includes music and the song I referred to):

And here are the lyrics that my friend Lee Anne Olson was kind enough to send me!

Queen of Carmel

Standing on the mountain
Looking across the bay
The Queen of Carmel reigns
She reigns majestically.

Chorus:

Cry out O Zion, Cry out to your lord
Cry out O Zion,
Circle round in adoration
Circle round your Lord.

Robed in white and crowned in gold
She stands for purity.
God will sail his ark on thee
As mentioned in the book of names.

Chorus.

Sketched Saturday in the Oread after going through Wm Least Heat-Moon and Daniel D Dancer's book on the seasons's of Kansas. The idea comes from a poem of Annie Dillard:

Riding the South Wind

Sail on the solar wind
over the sunflowers
etched on the landscape,
greening at sides of the road.

Sail on through its essence,
let solar winds guide
and ride past the prairie
to sit on a bluff
or soar like an eagle through sky
over waters we've named the Missouri.

Sail on the South Wind,
catch the updraft and currents
speak the language of lightning,
a thunderous roar,
and rain down on cornfields.

Become one with the Spirit.
Become one with the Earth once more. [163.235]

And one last wave of goodbye to the World Cup until 2010 in South Africa:
