Have you ever seen the show "Dog Whisperer" on National Geographic Channel? I avoided it for a while thinking it was some other version of "Pet Psychic." Those kind of shows are a little to strange for my tastes.

But then I heard other people recommend it, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I love the host's introduction: "I rehabilitate dogs and train people."

A lot of what he does and says makes complete sense. One in particular is dogs live in the moment. They don't bemoan the past or worry about the future.

I think that's why dogs are always so happy and optimistic. I know having Rufus has taught me a lot about the importance of living in the moment, and taking whatever joys today provides without muddying it up with the past and possible futures.

Have you ever thought about how man and dogs have a relationship unique to any other between species? Though we have other pets such as cats and birds, in general it's never as close as the ones we share with a dog.

My mom and sister think dogs and man evolved together. Whatever the start of the relationship between our species, it can't be any accident.
