Oh I love it, love it, love it when something I've submitted gets accepted.

OK--I don't get any money or anything---but hey--that's not why I do this, is it?
I love writing haiku and tanka and the other Japanese forms. I am drawn by their immediacy and freshness of the moment. I've submitted to tinywords before and this is my first acceptance. I also participate in an on-line haiku competition and have had little success in that forum. But I will keep on trying to get closer to capturing that perfect, immediate haiku moment.

Now that I'm done crowing I should mention the recent rejection letter I received. I submitted my story "Sanctuary to an on-line publication Flashtales. The editors did include why it was rejected and I found their comments helpful. Short stories are not my forte---and the editors felt that I was "telling" more than "showing" and that the story itself wasn't particularly original. I'll keep their critiques in mind the next time I venture into story land.
