Changing My Approach to Reviewing

I have decided to change my approach to reviewing. My past approach has been surfing writing.com for title or description lines that intrigue me, which is a good approach. However, I’ve found that I’m getting in a rut and reviewing only specific types and genre of writing. Therefore, I’m going to change to a more logical (?) approach. I’ll start by reviewing those members who have reviewed my work. After that I’ll go to my guest book and review those who have signed the book. After that I’m not sure, perhaps still review surf once or twice a week.

Now comes the hard part, deciding which item I want to review. I have difficulty making up my mind sometimes. I write poetry and therefore am partial to reading, reviewing and rating poetry, but if I did that, my muse would never go beyond the confines of phased lines. I suppose I could just take a stab in the dark, but if I did that then when I’m depressed all I’ll read is dark and depressing poems, short stories and essays. How do I choose which items to review? Gut feeling or perhaps I should say muse emotions.

I don’t know until I look in a port what I’m going to review. There are a few items that jump right out at me, these usually have something to do with food, religion, spirituality, science fiction, and fantasy (not necessarily in that order). However, I also review items that either reflects the emotion I’m feeling at the time or are contrary to the emotion I’m experiencing.
