Still Myself
Studying Emerson's Essays has me thinking over my inner self. I wonder about the perceptions of others: acquaintances and broder, faceless audiences. If it sounds like I am making myself the center of my own personal Universe, well, I think Emerson supports that. He certainly supports it more than societal constructs and dogma.

I can lay down in my bed listening to an entire music album. I can be. I structure stories in that alone time. It helps if I've read up a section, chapter, year's worth of journal entries, (whatever), the night before. I admit that I have a dose of consistency to overcome (my personal hobgoblin of the mind). It usually shows up as my computer houskeeping; clearing out old email rather than writing, stuff like that. There have been times even that this blog has been that distraction.
