My blog--I pull a card--if it doesn't speak to me...perhaps it is for you? |
The 3 of Cups is one of my favorite Tarot cards---pulled it a few days ago. It is often represented by three women holding chalices aloft. It represents graciousness and lightness and abundance to me. I associate the 3 women pictured with the Fates, and certainly, with the image of the triple-goddess. In Christian symbolism this becomes the Trinity----I have a Greek icon that I purchased at the St. Nicholas shrine----it represents the Eucharist----at the right 2 figures seated at table, with a chalice in the center, look toward the figure at the far left-----listening to Catholic TV one night I learned that the 2 figures on the right represent Jesus and the Holy Spirit----turned toward the figure of God----so that in the Eucharist---we are partaking of the Holy Trinity. I often go to church with a fundamental Christian friend and take commuion there----she knows I am a believer---but for me that means something different. I often take communion at home in the early morning as a reminder of Spirit and God's presence in my life. I know that many fundamemtalists would find this akin to blasphemy---but---so be it. All of the world's religions speak of a mystery and holiness that surrounds the world,a mystery imbedded in the world,a truth that perhaps can only be reached through symbol and wordlessness. In the Rorhrig Tarot---the 3 of Cups is represented by two boulders cleft in two---allowing a cascade of shimmering water to pour through----the granite wall of the 5 of cups penetrated by the small drip, drip, of the rivers of conciousness. I am continuing to drip, drip through the granite wall of the 21 days of poetry challenge. Today I was given the opportunity to write a poem about the Moirae----images that have captured me for a long time---and I want to work more with this stream of thought.
I was particularly taken by Cappucine attempt at 100 poems in 100 days. She admits in her blog that she found perhaps 5 salvegeable poems among the 100----but writing in a marathon way like this is not about perfection---it is about opening the floodgates of creativity. This is day 8 of the 21-day challenge---it looks like we've already lost about 10 participants--hoping I can keep up the pace.
