My blog--I pull a card--if it doesn't speak to me...perhaps it is for you?

Concierto de Arunjuez
The Concerto de Arunjuez by Joachin Rodrigo has been one of my favorite pieces of music for many years. I have heard it done in many variations, but none have done it more masterfully than Miles Davis on his Sketches of Spain album.

I had always wanted to write a poem inspired by this music. I thought I was writing a pantoum for "Invalid Item, but realized before submitting that I had the form wrong.

I did use the prompt words from "Stormy's poetry newsletter & contest--so I'm submitting the poem there.

That still leaves me to come up with a pantoum for "Stretch Your Style"--I could rework the Miles poem, but I kind of like it as is.

I'll probably pick another piece of music and use that instead--ah--the poet's life!

But I did get a blog entry out of it!

An older Miles-inspired poem:

for contest--starting lines with "d"--for my jazz-loving darling

There is a type of poetry known as ekphrasis---poetry written in response to a painting--not sure if sculpture or other visual art is included in that...I'm wondering if there is a name for a poetry genre inspired by music?
