Strike out

"Strike out"  the past in this new century
the world our parents and grandparents knew is dead
dissolved into the pain of old idealistic attitudes
when faced with a new reality.

Old infrastructures are crumbling into dust
as the foundations they were based on disintegrate,
because they are top heavy.

Strike out yesterday's desires
in the light of a new reality,
when hunger pain your belly
meet moths in your purse.

The rich do not hear the midnight wailing of the poor,
when the gold in their pockets
make louder noises.

Strike out reality shows
with no basis in a reality
where an out of work writer holds a sign,
which reads
Will write for food!

We live in an age of transition,
of change,
of evolution,
when the concepts of yesterday
have become nails in our coffins.

Strike out old concepts,
ideals,
and beliefs,
that no longer contribute to
humanity's survival
by encouraging the survival of its
individual components.
