Heirloom

Thoughts on an installation of Marie Watt

Take us through the ropes Marie
make us honor memories
what's wrought by hand and handed down
soft woolen blankets, woven hope
these heirlooms looming over us
our childhood, death, our struggle in-between
we're keen to know your history,
to show you ours, to hand them over:
blankets, thread and braided rope.
