Expressions of Me

Illusions

The stars i see before me
Shining bright above
Offers so much vitality
Yet delivers so little.

Upon getting closer
The discovery is made
That they're no more
Than dead balls of gas.

Like the stars in the sky
Hovering above our heads
You shine and twinkle
Offering much delight.

Like the stars above
Upon closer inspection
Brilliance diminishes
As the empty shell is discovered.

Promises made
Fail to deliver
Intrigue fades
As the illusion is uncovered.
