Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills.

Iowa August / How grows the vine ... Mandy ;-0
How grows the vine

Full of blue-eyed laughter,
you were a glorious sunny day
of composted bullshit, piss ant pranks
that bled to jaded, colorless dismay
then fled to fenced off fortress rafters,
barricaded sun-and-moon above my reach
coffined now behind your faded cedar planks
that still one stray tendril seeks to breach.

Iowa August

Heat droops
magenta daylilies,
weeds thirsty,
haggard,
spent;
through August-dust's domain
cracks spread
for parachutes
of dandelion seeds;
all life begs
for moist pine scent
wafting through cool rain.

Musical Gnus:

Les Paul just died at 94. Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Paul

Gosh... I forgot he was alive! The great inventor of the electric guitar and an innovator in over-dubbing reminded me that many of the entertainers of my youth are old, ancient or mouldering.

I immediately thought of apple-cheeked Doris von Kappelhoff who sang "Day after Day" and then took the name Doris Day. She is just a month older than my mother (87).

ME?

I wrote (edited) to Thomas : I just paid for a year of premium today. I thought about buying only 3 months and then slimming down my port to fit an upgrade, but my nerves are overwhelmed and can't take much. (This too shall pass, but it takes time...)

Whether I like to admit it or not... I can afford premium. I do without television or a car. My cell-phone/broadband and rent are my only two monthly bills. I can live on my income and even travel. *Wink*

I visit my sister for a week at the beginning of September. A return trip to Costa Rica is still in the works. I'm not sure about the Red Dirt Book Festival in Oklahoma (cost of place to stay in Shawnee, etc.)... although... I really want to revisit Oklahoma some day soon regardless. Elsewhere isn't on the radar at the moment, but who knows! If I have the money saved up... Bulgaria? (only during rose season *Flower2*)

Y'know... I really should start focusing on submitting my shit. *Shock*

I can afford that too if I'm careful. *Wink*
