Yellow cow

*Note2* Today's scribble

Yellow cow

         after Avery's Bucolic Landscape

Inhale the scent of withered grass;
hear buzzing thistle bees
and scratch behind my ear, my dear;
please, rest here, graze with me.

As sky looks further up from ground
where hedge rows loom ahead
these thistles guard their blooms, my dear;
please, pat my yellow head.

Let's watch the day go down the way,
that path we'll never tread;
please, stay here while the grasses sway,
please scratch my yellow head.

*Note2* Sketching it out:

My sister has lots of art works around as she herself paints with acrylics. This was based on Milton Avery's "Bucolic Landscape" (1945, oil on canvas; belongs to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo) :

The three quatrains are a ballad in meter: 8,6,8,6.

*Note2* Thou:

I sincerely hope you've all been well. Not reading like I oughtta.

*Note2* Me and Mine:

Another day of nothing much done. Did speak to my cousin in San Fran and Rainbowapple in Eureka. I'm planning on heading that way on Saturday, arriving on Sunday. It's a long trip. About 36 hours in total. (Des Moines to Missoula was 33)

The time and effort it takes to work out the trip's details sucks whatever energy I have left. I mean... I fed the chickens today; collected 2 as in "two" eggs. *Rolleyes* Went into town to find out I can't get a bus ticket as the Chamber of Commerce is closed (a total of 10 days); called Everett bus terminal to make sure they will be open on Saturday!

I haven't been writing like I should. Boredom and depression seem to help my Muse as does quiet and observation... I could write about throwing the ball to Rusty, my sister's dog or feeding chickens; but Scarlett's ditties on carrots would be far more entertaining I assure you.

*Note2* Washington: 42º and misty in Monroe at 6 p.m.
