Observation while listening to an answering machine

*Note5* Today's scribble

Observation while listening to an answering machine

a flash of red
a sign of life
dispelling dread?
proclaiming strife?
cold cardinal
that seeks the seed
phenomenal
his search, his need
and then:
no answer when I call
again:
the silence of snowfall

*Note5* Sketching it out:

The most difficult part of writing this last night was finding a title. I kinda like how the title is long and the lines are short. It pretty much wrote itself. Two images woven. "Cardinal" was on my mind after talking to Mandy in Iowa. It could be taken different ways when read more than once, which is fine with a short poem.

Brenda Hillman will be at AWP in Denver April 7-10:

If you think that blogging is just American/European or that it is second class, you should know that a Costa Rican blogger Cristian Cambronero received a national award in journalism. Mind you, I saw plenty of internet places while there but Costa Rica does not have the personal wealth found to the north nor a culture of avid book readers like here in Montana. His blog Fusil de Chispas (in Spanish):

Remember: your blog is being read too. *Smile*

*Note5* Me and Mine:

Was up past 1:30 am. trying to work on bus schedules. We need more buses! And more schedules! Talked to Rocky who grew up in Livingston, Montana when the train had four stops in the small town. Now? It's a flag stop for the bus.

Can't get to Tahlequah in Oklahoma. *Frown* And the hour to leave Des Moines going south is like 2:30 am. when the station is closed. Color me unhappy.

I hope for too much.

Now... off for meatloaf at the Senior Center so I don't have to cook. *Smirk*

*Smile* Missoula: sunny! and 30º out my window at 11 am. Montana Standard Time.
