[When rains turns off the lantern of the fireflies]
*Reading* Still slogging through Spanish poets. Poetry isn't for speed-readers. *Laugh* Went to a reading of Mark Gibbons. Mauvaises Herbes read by him in English, the French translation made by his son read by Michel Valentin. Poets inspire poets. Finally met Robert Lee.

*Quill* My writing goes well. 5 sketches today. From a couple days ago:

[When rains turns off the lantern of the fireflies]

When rains turn off the lanterns of the fireflies
cold rain that washes clean their wings,

sadness of grim gloaming giving way to night,
sad princess bowing to proud ebon queen,

in veiled darkness dance where no one sees your joy,
stark naked, unashamed, aglow with joy,

knowing that no pouring rain can quench internal sight.
O Firefly! Keep dancing your eternal flight!

I wrote this while reading Carmen Pallarés' poem “Girola de San Pelayo”. I was at Bernice's where Aaron flies around like a hummingbird (or firefly) but he's not familiar with them; Kate is though (She's a Pennsylvanian). So, this poem is for them.
