Arrival
No matter how quickly the light of morning filled his eyes, darkness would always be there first and though he could not tell if it was morning, the dark was there to remind him he had not escaped life yet.

Don't rate based off this, I had planned to start writing earlier but I didn't so I typed the first sentence up so as to not forget anything
