Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills. |
ME: I'm doing fine. Time to wrap it all up of course. Money: about the same as last time. About $10/ day lodging ($4-$14) and overall about $28/day. The flight to and fro cost as much as 30 days here. Just so you know... Need to really look at prices, maybe decide on my flight come Winter now? Lodging: from very humble to modest. I love hostels but end up overwhelmed by tourists from everywhere and speak too much English. Breakfast included is nice. Internet is wonderful! Bugs? Not... there is one place I'd recommend, but I got bit up. Gifts: Do seashells count? I might buy some painted feathers if I remember. I remembered to send some postcards but not all. Need to make better checklists. I can't find everyone's address either. Lost and found: Haven't lost anything ...I think. Bought books. That makes re-packing interesting. Might toss a shirt that got badly ink-stained. The maroon umbrella I bought in the US for $1 broke. Next time? New backpack {with wheels?} and bring a suitcase (with wheels). I'll need to bring more stuff. I did okay washing and drying things out and nothing is overly musty. But... if I rent a place it'll be easier to take short trips and always have clean clothes to change into. New places: La Cruz (Guanacaste): Liked it a lot and will revisit. Lovely view, empty beaches, nice people, cheap place to stay, food not-so-cheap. Nicoya (Guanacaste): Liked it and will definitely revisit. Cheap place to stay. Food not-so-cheap. Nice people to revisit. I can envision three or four day trips. Very hot around April. Ciudad Quesada de San Carlos (Alajuela): Cheap place. Good market. Cheap food. Nice people. Day trips possible. Not too hot. Rainy. Atenas (Alajuela): was a nice day trip, but I feel no need to revisit. I enjoyed revisiting Quepos, the animals at Manuel Antonio, Perez , the gardens and friends in Coto Brus, friends in Orosi, the gardens in Paraiso, the parks in Turrialba and Grecia. There are places I missed, but 5 out of 7 provinces will have to do this time. Heredia and Limon must wait till next time. I saw, but didn't visit, Nicaragua. Only a couple bumps and bruises on this trip. Each time it gets easier. I even managed to write some. And I will have my daily journal and hundreds of photos to inspire more. 22,591 |
