My Pet Peeve
30-Day Blogging Challenge September 1 to September 30, 2011 ~ Day 2 Prompt: "What is your biggest pet peeve/gripe/grievance/whatever you want to call it? Why does it bother you so much? Here is your chance to use your writing talent to vent about what ails you. Use it wisely."

My pet peeve concerns people who leave their pets or children in a car while they go into the bank or some other store for a quick errand. I live in Las Vegas and it gets hot here during the summer. It gets too hot to leave any living creature in a car, but people still do it.

You hear, at least, one story on the local or national news every year about someone leaving a pet or child in a hot car. I remember my Grandfather attempted to save the life of a baby whose parents left the child in the car. Grandpa gave the child mouth to mouth resuscitation until the ambulance arrived, but the baby had been in the hot car too long.

It is illegal in Las Vegas to leave children or pets in a hot car. However, people still do it. I believe lack of forethought is the issues. Someone wants to make a quick stop and thinks it will only take a few minutes; however, in cases where a living creature is left in a hot car there is no such thing as a few minutes.
