Worst Present Ever ~ Day Two
Wrinkles
Wrinkles appear without notice, Overshadowing the joy of the day, Rust on the hood of an abandoned car, Stains on a green and red Christmas dress, Trashcans cracked and broken lying in the street.
Perhaps the wrinkles are simply justice, Rewards for opportunities missed along life’s way, Expectations once rose as high as the North Star, Success slipped through the fingers of terror, Every difficulty emphasizes trouble and stress, Nothing goes right when all you feel is hopelessness, Time to reevaluate and start over.
Emotional baggage destroys the enjoyment of the day, Validation is a process of reevaluation, Experience and hindsight explain emotional reactions, Remember wrinkles form in the crucible of life.
Notes about this poem: I used to resent being born of Christmas Eve and did not enjoy te day because of the resentment. Then I noticed wrinkles forming because of the unhappiness and resentment.
