All the lonely people
30-Day Blogging Challenge September 1 to September 30, 2011 ~ Day 9 Prompt: "Where do you turn to and what do you see when you're lonely?"

I remember a line from a song, but I do not remember the name of the song. The line “all the lonely people” has stuck with me for years. The line defined my teenage years, so I guess that is why I remember it. I am not sure, but I think the song was by the Beatles.

What do I do when I am lonely? In the last century, when I was a teenager I would turn on the radio or play a record. As I matured that changed, in my twenties I look at television when I was lonely. Now I do not find being lonely as difficult as when I was younger.

Loneliness is a state of mind. I can be lonely in a crowd. When I am alone do not always feel lonely. If I do experience this emotion, I turn of television. I will not always watch the show that is on, but the voices give me comfort. At other time, I read a book, meditate, or say a prayer. If none of these actions work, then I will go shopping or to a restaurant. Sometimes all I need is a cup of coffee, a piece of chocolate, and a journal entry.
