A Universe Inimical to Human Interest

On August 20, 1890, at 9:00 A.M. a child was born into a universe inimical to human interest. This boy was born on third planet of an ordinary yellow sun to a species whose minds could not comprehend life. The specific place of his birth was Providence, Rhode Island. His parents, Winfield Scott Lovecraft and Sarah Susan Phillips Lovecraft, named him Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

Invitation

Come join the party and celebrate the day of my birth on August 20. The party will begin at 9:00 A.M., the hour of my birth. The theme of this party is “A Universe Inimical to Human Interest”. Decide which one of my stories or poems is your favorite. Come dressed as a character in that story or poem. The game is for the other guest to guess the name of the story and the character.

In addition, anyone who can explain my literary principle of cosmicism to my satisfaction will receive a special surprise.

Please RSVP by August 1. Anyone not RSVPing may expect exile to the farthest and darkest reaches of Cosmoses or imprisonment with Cthulhu.
