The Continuing Saga of Prosperous Snow |
Kamál (Perfection), 2 ‘Ilm (Knowledge), 167 BE – Monday, October 17, 2011 about 11:55 AM Pacific Time This is not a horror movie; this is an invasion by Nylanderia pubens. Hairy crazy ants invade homes and industry. They are unstoppable. A barrier of poison spread mote-like around the house works for only a few hours. These flea-size biting creatures scurry at speeds faster then normal ants. They crawl into and over anything in their way. Fuzz covers their abdomen, which is why they received the “hairy” in their names. The “crazy” comes from the speeds at which the horde scurries; also known as “Caribbean crazy ants” and “Raspberry crazy ants”. These invaders are probably natives of South America. These ants can destroy anything, no piece of technology or industrial plant is safe from them if they go unchecked. The above information was gleaned from the article “Southern states suffering invasion of hairy crazy ants” by Janet McConnaughey. A person suffering from myrmecophobia does not need to encounter hair crazy ants. Myrmecophobia come from two Greek words “myrmeco” which means “ants” and “phobia” or fear. An encounter with hairy crazy ants will give a person nightmare, but probably not myrmecophobia. For more information on myrmecophobia see http://common-phobias.com/Myrmeco/index.htm |
