Mercedes-Benz and solar powered cars
April 19, 2012, Opinion Thursday, Day 19 ~ 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is "Transportation. What is your preferred mode of getting around and what are your thoughts about the nature of mobility today and tomorrow?"

I drive a 2000 silver (when it is clean) Kia Sephia; however, my preferred mode of transportation is a chauffer driven Mercedes-Benz. I rode in a Mercedes once it was wonderful; it was heavenly. It was so much quieter and smoother then any other car I know.

As for the nature of mobility today, I am 65 years old and I can say from experience that transportation today is both better and worse then in decades past. My grandparents learned to drive horse and buggies, but he bought a car as soon as he could afford it. We no longer have to use horse and buggies to get around. It used to take weeks or months to get across the United States and now it takes a few hours. In some ways transpiration is much better.

In other ways, it is worse and/or more expensive. Gas prices are kissing $4.00 a gallon. In order to get a car fixed, you go to a mechanic, he or she puts the car on a computer and then orders a part, which is no bigger then your thumbnail and cost between $100.00 and $400.00 if you are lucky without labor. I do not mind paying when and if I can find the money, besides if I have a choice, I would rather fix a car then feed and clean up after a horse.

The future of transportation is in solar powered or electric cars, preferably that fly. However, I am not married to the flying car idea. I think any type of car that does not pollute the environment and allows people get around at a reasonable price within a reasonable time frame. Myself I would prefer a solar powered car with a robot chauffer.
