Ambiguity versus clarity
Costa Rica drip.
Flowers dance to hummingbirds.
Coffee fills my cup.

How to be ambiguous with two or more meanings that aren't obscure and make sense?

In response to a blog entry by: Prosperous Snow celebrating

ME:

I've had my cup of coffee. It's 9 am. I should be functioning by now; but then, I should've been functioning 2 hours ago. Grey morning. Got up at 07:30 ...late again. I fade by 9 pm ...so unlike me...

Temp was low. 97.2 is low, even for me. It's been yo-yo-ing. The good news? Any bug that's trying to take me down will have a hard time becoming comfortable. A steady 98.6 is preferred by most. which is why fevers are so important in fighting certain types of illness. If it doesn't fry you that is.

O Pinions!

Thanks to everyone who has read and/or commented to my recent short political rant in another of my blogs: "Candyman.

I do think Americans like their candy. Woman prefer candycanes to be long-lasting and hard. Men just want to suck on them. ...IMHO. You are welcome to disagree.

Weather:

Cloudy mornings? What's this about? Better than hot and steamy though. Last night was humid. The night before cool. We don't have exciting weather here accept when there's a tropical storm anywhere near. But... one becomes attuned to the subtleties. And we don't have snow-in-June like Montana. I'll be back for winter ...in September. *Smirk*

Keeping in touch:

Called my friend Robin in Kansas by Skype. Wonderful... Keeping in touch on facebook and slowly posting pictures. Realized some I wanted to share were set on for-my-eyes-only. Fixed that. Figured out how to switch photos to other albums ...again ...fb keeps changing how things are done. Hard for these old eyes and old brain cells. Called my mother yesterday; my aunt on Saturday. They want postcards. I didn't tell them I sent from Norway... some surprises are good.

Flowers:

My plants came through my hiatus in varying ways. Lost a couple, a couple others weren't too happy, some have that feline attitude of "who are you", a few have really thrived. Daily downpours helped. Unfortunately, some are under eaves. Eaves are important here ...if you don't want water inside.

Food:

I shared some lefse I brought from Norway with Johnny last night. Don't have much in the house other than fruit drinks, bananas and coffee. Time to shop? Yeah, probably time to shop. Hopefully, I'll get to see Marguerite today. I have three bags of licorice for her. She'll be good for 6 months. *Bigsmile*

Ambiguity versus clarity:

In my short verse above does "drip" refer to rain or to coffee dripping? The second line indicates rain (although I could strengthen that line) the third is straight-forward but makes one question the first. I truly think any interpretation by the reader is good as long as they get something from it. Obscurity isn't good in either prose or poetry though. At least these images are concrete: coffee cup, hummingbird, flower. And simple. Violet-sabrewing and rabo-de-leon might be too specific for most folks and they would lose the meaning. In prose however, a white mug of Coffee del Valle and names of local fauna and fauna would be more interesting with context. "the small green colibri hovers over the scarlet tresses of the rabo-de-gato beneath my balcony..." something like that.
