Relavance of Olympics
Day 2 prompt written on Day 3...

Oh ...well...get over it. *Smirk*

I don't like the commercialization nor have I enjoyed US coverage of events in the past. US media conveniently ignores events that the US does not compete in or when they have a snow balls chance in the Summer Games.

Costa Rican coverage is strange. I get bits and pieces on channels 11, 17, 36, 59 and CNN. Another ...oh ...well.

Enjoyed the handball game between Norway and Sweden. Watched some swimming. Each British win is thrilling because doing it at home is special. Phelps is special as well.

Eye candy? Missed the diving...

Is it relevant? Is this prompt relevant? Is my life relevant?

When I stay in hostels I get to meet people from around the world. At Pangea last week it was a Canadian from Montreal, two Germans from Munich, an Australian from Brisbane, Queensland.

In Norway I met a Mexican woman, a man from Iceland, a Spaniard from Catalonia, a Swede from Skåne. I was helped by a Dane. And that was just in Trondheim.

Yes, for some of the Olympians this will be a chance to meet fellow competitors from around the world. For most it will give hope or dash it. For others it's just a chance to promote their careers and make money. Alack, the same for teams.

In general these games are desperately needed. Many of the sports are just watered-down war games. And that is preferable to war. Ask the Syrian competitors. In a world that is increasingly connected anything that promotes understanding is good.

Olympian

War shifts
from field to mat:
higher, faster, stronger;
to break records or dash all hope
...at last.
