Moving Forward

Hubby's operation went to plan on Saturday and he is now home again recuperating. He has a large patch stitched over his left eye which has to remain in place until he returns to the hospital in ten days time. If it wasn't for the awful weather I'd invite all our friends round for a pirate fancy dress party to make him feel less conspicuous.

The snow has been relentless for a few days, but thankfully no more has fallen today. It's still treacherous on the roads and underfoot, but I did manage to slip and slide to the local shops today for essentials. Well, I did call in the craft shop and brought home some card making materials and new wool , but in my defence it is over a month since I went out with friends or visited any proper city shops. I have a case of retail therapy deprivation. No doubt the cards and wool will still be hanging around unused for months, but my intentions were good.

My sister is due a visit, but sadly the weather has put paid to that for the time being. So, it's the same old routine of housework, food shopping, cleaning, making drinks, feeding the birds, feeding hubby, cooking and pot washing. Still, I am grateful to be able to do it. I feel sorry for those who are not fit or well enough to leave the house or do much in it.

It's strange how when we're really busy, dashing about here and there and rarely at home, we long to have time to pursue interests we can rarely find time for. Now I have the opportunity to maybe write, paint, make jewellery or cards, start my family book or sort out folders, it just doesn't appeal somehow. Is it human nature or am I just a contrary Mary?
