The April 27, 2013 prompt for "Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt Forum" is Tell us about the one experience that has changed your life. 1 Which life changing experience do I chose? I chose care giving because it is a sea change in the life of the caregiver and the one needing a caregiver. 2 As Alzheimer's steals the memory of its victim, it transforms the caregiver's life. It is a long slow death for the sufferer, as brain cell by brains cell memories depart; wave a long good-bye as neurons lose the battle for survival and the brain loses control of bodily functions. Day after day the caregiver cries, remembering the vital person who was mother, father, husband, wife, sibling, etc. 3 I am still to close to the event for me to write continually in the first person; sometimes the descriptions, the emotions must be expressed in the second or the third person because my mind, my soul, and my body shed tears simultaneously. Thought of the Day: "There are only four kinds of people in the world - those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need caregivers." -- Rosalynn Carter |
