Survivor

I am more aware today that I am a survivor on the island called life. I spent last night talking to a coworker. The conversation spanned many hours. I was amazed that the person telling the tale stood strong and tall. He was not about to feel sorry for himself and made it clear that he was no one to be messed with. As I looked into the mirror of his life I saw myself hanging on to a thread in hopes someone might pull me up out of the abyss of doubt and despair. The threads unravel in my writing. Maybe others know the same angst. Together we are an entity called survivor. It isn't so bad knowing that I am not alone. The forms of unraveling take place everyday and people are richer because of the ones that have courage to share what is inside to people who feel they might forever be on the outside. The thread is like a fishing line reeling(realing) them in.
