Being Beat

I just got finished playing tennis with my son Tim and I feel beat. He had spins, smashes, what he laughingly called a swish serve and boundless energy. At the same time I feel beat I hear a different kind of beat thumping in my heart. I recall intimately Tim's entrance into the world. They looked at his feet and they said, "this one's gonna be a big one when he grows up. They were right. At the same time I appreciate his gentle sensitivity. I look forward to playing tennis with him, because I know we will always have fun win or lose. It is nice to know that getting beat is a good thing. It means I am alive plotting and planning for my next battle!!
