These poems are about the strength of humanity and its weakness. They carve our image. |
In honor of Shake It Out by Florence + The Machine. This was a challenge to something the Writing.com Mistress shared with us: Rising Above My hands are shaking My skin feels tight The horse keeps neighing Calling me, calling me One child is crying Another needs help What does it matter That I itch up and down? The horse keeps neighing Calling me, calling me Bury it down, covered with dirt No food in the cupboards The electric’s off The phone won’t charge Haven’t paid any bills It seemed so simple So easy to bend I’ve done it before, Can’t do it again. But the horse keeps neighing Calling me, calling me No money in my wallet No milk in the fridge Let the horse keep neighing Calling me, calling me Can’t look at myself When I come to a mirror I wet my face Though there is no need Tears already bathed me, Washing me free Let the horse keep neighing. Calling me, calling me. It tosses its head Blows snot through its nose I’ll get this devil Clear off of my back One child crying, Another needs help What does it matter If the horse keeps neighing? Calling me, calling me Every way that I turn. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Perhaps I completely misinterpreted this song, but this is what I got out of it -- great sadness and the desire to start again, to break through from a life that's gone in a very bad direction. P.S. The name of the horse is Heroin. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
