Poetic Thoughts on Various Subjects
1

October planning
for National Novel Writing Month
I learn about myself

2

extra hour of sleep
end of daylight savings time
for 2014

3

do sparrows observe
daylight savings time in song
they have their own time

4

morning temperatures
descend into the sixties
I need a sweater

5

Write, Write, Write

Novel Writing Month
To write 50,000 word
Continues to write

Write, write, write
It's National Novel Writing Month
A busy November

6
Sunday Afternoon

Sunday afternoon
And I want to take a nap
Poetry to write

Sunday afternoon
Prayer and meditation
Instead of a nap

7

I open the blinds
dawn scatters morning's blue light
across the city

chilly autumn dawn
I limp across the tile floor
with my coffee cup

bowl of cereal
with hot coffee instead of milk
my Sunday breakfast

8

chilly November
ghost clouds float across the sky
sun cast dark shadows

a chilly morning
the middle of November
hot cup of coffee

Grandpa drink coffee
he brewed a pot every day
sometimes more then one

9
Is It Winter Yet?

The chill in the morning air
tells me winter is almost here,
while the weariness in my bones
encourages me to remain home.

Autumn is feeling like winter
and the bright sunshine
does not warm the atmosphere
of the northern hemisphere.

10

Thanksgiving is one week away,
what is there to write or say
except the memories of yesterday.

Thanksgiving is one week away
I let go of the tears,
while keeping the smile.

11

dispelling worry
over my NaNoWriMo novel
pray write pray write pray

12

a chilly Sunday
with wind caressing palm fronds
grateful for coffee

a windy Sunday
look at the wind chill factor
I give thanks for soup

13

Thanksgiving Week Begins
Thanksgiving week begins
a time for family,
a time for counting my blessings,
a time for remembering,
a time for crying,
a time for laughing,
and the time to set 2015 goals.

14

On Black Friday
pumpkin pie makes a good breakfast,
with a cup of hot coffee.

On Black Friday
the malls are crowded
with Christmas shoppers
and the city streets are jammed
with drivers going to and from various stores.

On the Last Day of November 2014

November 30
the last day of
National Novel Writing Month,
I am a winner
because I completed the challenge
and wrote 51,108 word
and 30 chapters
of my novel
The Mark of the Blue Wolf.

I am a winner
because I took up the gauntlet
and charged forward
writing, writing, writing,
in the month of November.
