I HAVE TO WRITE THIS BLOG!

Blog City Prompt: Checking email, most of us don't have jobs that require it but we do it anyway. It is simply compulsive behavior? 
What other compulsive behaviors do you have? How can we get control of our compulsiveness?.

Now what is the difference between compulsive behavior and addiction? You could say smokers are compulsive---several times every hour they have to have nicotine. Alcoholics are compulsive or are they addicted? There are levels of difficulty in stopping the behavior. And for some it becomes a lifetime of trying to stop.

When I was much younger I discovered I could not have a drink (alcoholic) or a cup of coffee without a cigarette. In order to stop smoking, I had to stop drinking. I did both. On my own without any help except teasing from my friends who smoked and drank. Hardest thing I ever did in my entire life.

Never touched a cigarette again and cannot handle more than one glass of wine with dinner. Being the child of an alcoholic creates a world of education that I finally really looked at and saw the path I was on. We live---we learn---or we don’t.
