Jigsaw Puzzle Time
Well, with Christmas behind us, it's time to begin the winter activities. Skiing and other winter sports are not recommended for people with brittle bones or who take blood thinners or have other problems. At my house, we will be reading more and doing new jigsaw puzzles.
Solitary activities for sure. I prefer to look at it as being comfortable with your own company. And they help you sleep. Studies have shown that reading from I-pads or other e-readers is visually stimulating, and not restful. Actually turning pages in a book engages you more, making you tired and, therefore, ready to sleep. But it also helps delay the signs of Alzheimer's. So keep those real books handy and use them.
I will have to force myself to get physical exercise to balance out the sitting still so long. Even sitting at my computer for half an hour makes my ankles ache. I've got to keep moving. The first new puzzle comes out of the box after church tomorrow. If it's raining, I might have to put in a Leslie Sansone DVD and walk in the family room for a break.
