Day 2 - Family
NaPoWriMo.net's prompt is: Today, I challenge you to write a poem that takes the form of a family portrait. You could write, for example, a stanza for each member of your family. You could also find an actual snapshot of your family and write a poem about it, spending a little bit of time on each person in the picture. You don’t need to observe any particular form or meter.
WDC's prompt is: favourite colour in terms of if everything was that colour or it did not exist.

Where does family tie together?
How do the bonds intertwine
And lives build and surround one another?
Do fissures open old wounds
Or does love act as balm to all
Uniting each one
And keeping harmony at the forefront?
Mysteries lie within families
Some are strong
Their loyalty and devotion unerring;
Others battle endlessly
Splintering lives all around.
My own family has close ties
Bound and extended around the miles
Stretching from one end of the country to the other
And slipping down into the States
Time has edged in as lives expand
Beyond the boundaries of only family
Pulling in new members
And adding children to the mix.
But with the growing of age
The older generation pulls back together
Binding the fabric yet again.
Nothing is stagnant
But one thing remains...
The love of all things and
The knowing we can count on each other.
