April 9 prompt:
Prompt: Close your eyes and turn your head to the left. What is the first thing you see when you open your eyes? Write a poem about it.

Fireplace

Fire ripples
It dances over the coals.
They glow
Golden lava contained.
Blue flames reach and flicker
Heat comes forth in waves
Warming the chilled basement air
And illuminating the space
With a vibrancy and charm
That only a fireplace can bestow.
