Day 12 prompt:
Write a poem about writing a poem.

Captured Words


Words flutter in my mind
Creating images
And invoking emotions
They move like butterflies
Resting a moment
Then scattering up into the air
Taking flight in a breeze of delight.
I fling my net to capture what I can
Ever so gentle to hold them
Before letting them sail off again
Sometimes they evade me
But even for that moment
They bring a smile
One I hope to pass on to others
If I manage
To write down
The gift they gave me.
