A Virtual Sleigh Ride and A Traditional Holiday Recipe
Tuesday, December 20, 2016

The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise prompt for DAY 1015
How would you like to ride in a “one-horse open sleigh” on snow and ice with the cold Siberian wind blowing at your face? Can you come up with a story, a poem, or an essay about it?

A Virtual Sleigh Ride

I am no longer winter's child,
I prefer temperatures that are warm and mild,
without the glacial winds
that penetrate my bones
and freeze the marrow within.

I want a virtual sleigh ride
with Santa by my side
as we drive across a virtual snowscape
singing the Christmas carols
from my childhood.

The "Blogging Circle of Friends prompt for DAY 1496
What's your favorite Christmas, Hannukah or Winter recipe? Does your family have a traditional recipe that is served whenever they get together?

A Traditional Holiday Recipe

As I listening to the carols of Christmas
nostalgic memories of my childhood return
bringing with them the joy
of Grandma's Christmas cookies
and pumpkin pie.

I remember stringing popcorn
into white wreaths
to place on a living Christmas tree,
while we sipped hot chocolate
made with real milk
and Hershey's© chocolate powder.

I remember placing red and white striped
candy canes on the tree;
today these memories are
my traditional holiday recipe.
